The fear of the LORD

Someone studying to be an electronic engineer needs to understand the laws of electricity to succeed. No school would bypass the fundamentals of electricity in their curriculum. It is this respect for atomic laws that allow engineers to make products that work.

This is not different in life matters. The same God who created the laws of electricity is the one who created moral laws. Just as the electronic student is required to know these laws, people need to fear breaking God's moral laws. One cannot truly succeed in life unless they respect (fear) the creator and His creation. It is in this light we can see that the Proverb is absolutely correct when it says...

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." Proverbs 9:10
